On Wednesday, May 14th at 11am EDT I’ll be presenting a micro conference (the word webinar is too pedestrian) for the Apereo Foundation, the nonprofit group that supports and develops several EdTech open source initiatives, including the Sakai LMS. The talk is based on the concept that EdTech is now mission critical and has now, or is currently, going through three shocks to the system - the Covid pandemic, challenging political challenges in many countries, and the emergence of generative AI. What should we expect moving forward? Registration is free, and I hope you can join us for this presentation and discussion.

Increasing Influence
In the past few months I’ve called out the slow response from nonprofit institutions and their associations to more effectively lobby the Trump Administration’s Department of Education (ED) and congressional leaders. Too much focus has been on looking at the chaos of executive orders and funding cuts and too little focus has been on influencing actual bills and regulations. Thankfully, this situation is improving as evidenced by this morning’s American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) webinar on federal policy updates.
