US vs UK online, course material spending, a view of IES data, and an update on The Coalition and California budgets

There’s a lot to get to this week and not much time (I’m in Boulder for one of my daughter’s weddings . . . one of is a modifier of daughters, not weddings).
US and UK Online Education: Compare and contrast
This week we released a new episode of Online Education Across the Atlantic, this time based on an interview with Rajay Naik and his unique experience seeing online education from the UK, US, and other markets (Naik is currently founder & CEO of Skilled Education). Morgan, Neil, and I then discuss the interview topics.
Course Material Spend Continues Decline
Student Monitor released its new data that looks at course material spending. The primary finding is that what students spend (based on surveys) has continued to decline while Inclusive Access / Equitable Access / First Day models continue to grow.

Students appear to find academic value from this first day concept, although there was a small year-over-year decline that should be monitored (pun intended).
